How can I obtain 40 CEUs to retain my CHC
status?
- If you have attended any programs given by HCCB, you should request
a certificate of CEUs obtained by submitting the Continuing Education
Application in your binder.
- If you attend any programs not accredited by us, you can apply for
independent credits using the Individual Accreditation Application.
- If you have been a speaker at a compliance event, you can apply for
independent credits using the Individual Accreditation Application.
Do you send reminders when certification is
close to expiration?
Yes. We send reminders, but it is ultimately your responsibility to
remember to renew your certification.
Is there a grace period if my certification
expires?
If a candidate intends to maintain credentials,
but will not meet the expiration deadline, we will allow a 10-day grace
period. If a candidate anticipates not meeting the 10-day deadline, we
will extend the grace period if requested in writing before original
expiration date. The candidate will be required to pay a $50 late fee
for every 30 days after expiration up to 60 days. Beyond 60 days after
expiration the candidate will be required to make application and pass
the current version of the examination. See
RE-EXAMINATION
Re-examination: Candidates who wish to maintain
certification through examination must make application and pass the
current version of the examination. Individuals maintaining
certification through examination are required to pay an examination fee
in addition to regular renewal fees ($100 for members, $200 for
non-members).
Do you keep track of how many CEUs I
currently have?
We do not keep track of your CEUs. That is the responsibility of each
individual.
How do I document compliance magazines or
journals?
You will simply write in the name of the journal and the date on the
form. If it is not HCCB or CHC approved, you will need to fill out the
CHC Individual Accreditation Application.
How can I receive credit for education
completed outside of the HCCA?
Any non-HCCA event may be submitted for consideration of CCB CEUs by
submitting the ‘Individual Accreditation Application’.
This application should be supplemented by a program agenda and proof of
attendance. If the content covered is relevant to compliance and
the CHC certification, CCB CEUs will be awarded.
I did not receive or did not apply for CEUs
for a conference I attended. How do I document that
conference?
If the conference was with HCCB your certificate is usually put in your
binder at the conference. If it is a larger conference, you may call us
to receive your certificate or to be directed to an application.
If the conference was with another sponsor, you may want to call
them to find out how to obtain your certificate.
Is there a sample test I can take to see
what type of questions will be on the Examination?
Within the Candidate Handbook there are sample questions. There is
also a Practice Test on our website for candidates who will
take the computer based test at an AMP testing site, to become familiar
with the software. You will simply enter your name and start answering
the questions. You may check to see if your answers are correct by
clicking “Grade” at the bottom of the page.
How do I take the examination again if I do
not renew my certification in time?
Certificants may renew their certification through one of two
routes:
- Documentation of 40 CHC continuing education credits and payment of
the renewal fee OR
- Re-examination and appropriate fee when eligibility requirement are
satisfied

years is no longer considered certified and may not use the credential

signature.

make application and pass the current version of the examination at
least 60 days before the expiration of their current certification.
