CMS Seeks Public Comment on Draft Chapter 9 - Part D Program to Control Waste Fraud and Abuse. Comment period ends March 1, 2006

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is accepting comments on a draft of Chapter 9– Part D Program to Control Waste Fraud and Abuse of the Prescription Drug Benefit Manual. This draft Chapter 9 – Part D Program to Control Waste Fraud and Abuse is posted below.

Its purpose is to provide guidance for Sponsors to implement a comprehensive program to prevent and detect fraud, waste and abuse in the prescription drug program. The draft chapter provides recommendations for Sponsors to implement a program to control fraud, waste and abuse as part of an effective Part D compliance program.  

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is accepting comments on the draft chapter – Chapter 9 – Part D Program to Control Fraud, Waste, and Abuse -through the close of business on March 1, 2006. Those interested in commenting may submit their comments via e-mail to CMSPartD_FWA_Comments@ees.hhs.gov  CMS will take all comments into consideration as the agency finalizes Chapter 9 for The Prescription Drug Benefit Manual.
