Research Compliance Research Risk Areas Identified

Research Billing, Effort Reporting and Conflicts of Interest topped the list of Risk Areas identified by those who attended the Health Care Compliance Association Research Compliance Conference held October 31 through November 2, 2007 in Chicago, IL. The survey was conducted by HCCA following the conference with approximately 85 responses.

Department Of Justice Files Complaint Against Ex-Tenet General Counsel

On September 18, 2007, the government announced it had filed a complaint alleging that the former general counsel of Tenet Healthcare Corporation violated the False Claims Act, the Justice Department announced today. The suit contends that in 1997 and 1998, Christi Sulzbach submitted false certifications to the Department of Health and Human Services which allowed Tenet to bill Medicare for millions of dollars in claims that it was not entitled to receive.
