Biographies of the Speakers
Greg Etzel
is Of Counsel in the Houston office of the law firm Vinson & Elkins LLP. His primary area of practice involves the representation of hospitals and other providers relating to health care regulatory matters and payment disputes. He has represented various health care providers in Medicare payment litigation before administrative appeals panels such as the Medicare Provider Reimbursement Review Board, the Medicare Departmental Appeals Board, the Texas State Office of Administrative Hearings, and in federal court. He has also represented hospitals and other providers in a number of federal False Claims Act matters, including both national initiatives led by the U.S. Department of Justice and individual qui tam actions. Greg’s practice in this area also includes assisting providers in the risk assessment, investigation, and voluntary disclosure and repayment of identified health care overpayments. Greg was recently listed as one of fourteen "Outstanding Young Healthcare Lawyers" of the year by Nightingale's Healthcare News, 2005. 


Scott McBride
is a Senior Associate in the Houston office of Vinson & Elkins LLP. Scott's main practice area involves providing legal services to the health care industry. As part of his practice, Scott is involved in handling health care fraud and abuse matters and False Claims Act litigation and investigations; advising clients on Medicare, Medicaid, and other government reimbursement and coverage rules, laws, and regulations; assisting clients in comprehensive corporate compliance matters; analyzing and advising clients on voluntary disclosure and repayment matters; and representing clients in health care matters before state and federal agencies and through administrative appeals. Scott was recently listed as one of 12 "Outstanding Fraud and Compliance Lawyers,"  Nightingale's Healthcare News, 2005.
