Part I.
Recent Developments from the Perspective of a State Inspector General and Outside Counsel
The January 22nd session will revisit the most relevant portions of Deficit Reduction Act while adding new and pertinent information about the history of the statute, trends in Medicaid payments, recovery of overpayments and fraud detection, and the emergence of state-level False Claims Acts across the country.
Frank Sheeder, Health Law Partner, Jones Day and Brian Flood, Inspector General of the State of Texas, share information about this legislation with compliance professionals. Mr. Flood has been appointed to the Center for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) Medicaid Integrity Program (MIP) Advisory Committee. The committee is a key component of their strategy for implementing MIP. As a member of the committee he will be asked to serve as an acknowledged expert resource in their effort to design and implement (1) a national performance system for State Medicaid program integrity activities and (2) a Medicaid payment integrity audit program to combat waste, fraud and abuse.
Part II.
