SCCE & HCCA survey reveals training governing boards on compliance is the new norm

Training governing boards on compliance and ethics is now the norm rather than the exception, according to “Compliance Training and The Board,” a survey recently conducted by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) & Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA). According to the survey results, 72% of respondents report that training on compliance and ethics issues is provided to the board of directors. However, it is surprising to find 34% of respondents from publicly traded companies indicate no compliance training is performed.

SCCE & HCCA now seeking Deputy CEO; SCCE & HCCA announce CEO Roy Snell to retire March 2020

“The Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) & Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) are excited to announce the search for a new CEO. Roy Snell will be retiring in March of 2020. We are very excited about our accomplishments to date and are looking forward to identifying an individual that will have the skill set to take us to the next level. The individual we seek will come on as the Deputy CEO and then ultimately assume the position of CEO. Roy Snell will stay on for roughly one year in a special projects role to assist with the transition.

SCCE and HCCA survey reveals compliance team has little role in company incentive programs

Compliance teams typically do not have a role in reviewing incentive programs to mitigate risk prior to its role out, according to the latest Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) and the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) survey report. The report— Incentive Programs and Compliance—reveals that 52 percent of survey respondents never review incentive programs for management and that 46 percent report never review incentive programs for rank and file employees.

The Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) announced today it has acquired Report on Patient Privacy and Report on Research Compliance from Atlantic Information Services, Inc. These two highly valued and often referenced newsletters will continue to be written by Theresa Defino and her editorial team, who now also benefit from the wide range of compliance resources and professional contacts available through HCCA. Ms. Defino, a well-regarded journalist, has experience reporting on HIPAA and the ethical and compliance issues facing researchers and institutions, having worked for an academic medical center affiliated with a major mid-western university.
