SCCE and HCCA survey reveals compliance team has little role in company incentive programs

Compliance teams typically do not have a role in reviewing incentive programs to mitigate risk prior to its role out, according to the latest Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) and the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) survey report. The report— Incentive Programs and Compliance—reveals that 52 percent of survey respondents never review incentive programs for management and that 46 percent report never review incentive programs for rank and file employees.

HCCA acquires Report on Patient Privacy and Report on Research Compliance – two of the health care compliance industry’s leading information resources

Survey finds despite headlines of hacker-caused breaches, the real data breach culprit for companies is human error

Data breaches resulting from hackers often leads the news headlines, however, a survey of compliance professionals conducted in November 2016 by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) and the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) found human error to be the main cause of data breaches. While 17% of respondents reported a hacktivist or szhacker was responsible for a breach, lost device (20%) and lost paper files (45%) were far more likely to cause a breach.

SCCE and HCCA survey reveals Compliance Programs not only regularly manage incidents of wrongdoing but also prevent wrongdoing

It’s clear from the recent survey conducted by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) and its sister organization the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) that Compliance and Ethics programs have a significant impact on preventing misconduct. According to the results of the 2016 Compliance Effectiveness Survey, 83 percent of compliance professionals surveyed reported their program prevented misconduct at least once in the last two years, with 46 percent reporting their program prevented wrongdoing six or more times in the same time frame.

Cybersecurity and cybercrime tops the list of compliance and ethics professionals’ hot topics, according to a survey conducted during January 2016 by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) and Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA). Rounding out the top five issues are social media compliance risks, leveraging compliance practices with business practices to be more effective and efficient, creating/maintaining an ethical culture, and more effective internal investigations according to “Compliance and Ethics Hot Topics for 2016” report.

HCCA to celebrate 20th Anniversary at the 2016 Compliance Institute

The Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) today announced it will celebrate its 20th Anniversary during the 2016 Compliance Institute on April 17-20, 2016, at the ARIA in Las Vegas. In the years since the association was founded, the compliance and ethics profession has grown from a once unfamiliar and uncommon occupation to being a central part of today’s business landscape. A key measure of the profession’s maturity is the growth of the HCCA. Just last week the HCCA, along with its sister association the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, announced that jointly the two organizations now have over 16,000 members.

SCCE and HCCA achieve Impressive milestone with 16,000th member—evidence of compliance and ethics profession’s dynamic expansion

The Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) and its sister association, the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) are pleased to announce today that, together, they now have more than 16,000 members — 16,000 compliance and ethics professionals. Aida R. López-Carrasquillo, Executive Administrator, Psychiatric Services of Puerto Rico Corp. became the 16,000th member when she joined.
